We are committed to the highest standards of security in Last Mile Solutions, our daily operations and your business as Charge Point Operator. To further strengthen the protection of your charging infrastructure, we are pleased to announce the rollout of an enhanced security feature: IMEI Lock.
What is IMEI Lock?
IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) lock is a security measure that restricts each SIM card to operate only in its assigned charging station by pairing it with the station’s unique IMEI number. If someone attempts to use the SIM in any other device, the network will automatically detect the mismatch and block the connection.
Why this matters:
- Protects your charging stations from misuse and potential fraud
- Ensures network integrity and operational reliability
- Prevents unauthorized use of SIM cards
This IMEI Lock has now been applied to all charging stations using Last Mile Solutions provided SIM cards. You do not need to take any action. This upgrade is performed automatically, remote, and without any interference to your operations.
How does the IMEI lock work?
- When you insert a SIM card into a device, the network records the charge point’s IMEI number.
- As IMEI lock is by default enabled, the SIM card will only function in the charge point with the registered IMEI.
- If the SIM is moved to another device, the network detects the IMEI mismatch and blocks the SIM from working.
Why does Last Mile Solutions enable IMEI lock in production?
- Prevents misuse: If someone tries to use the SIM card in an unauthorized device, it won’t work. This stops unauthorized data use, or any other fraudulent activity.
- Deters theft: Since a locked SIM is useless in any other device, it discourages theft.
What happens if a SIM card with IMEI lock is removed or replaced in a different charger or device, like an EDGE device or router?
If the SIM card is removed and inserted into another device, it will not work. The network will block any activity from that SIM, preventing misuse.
You always need a unique SIM per charge point, EDGE device, or router.
Can the IMEI lock be changed if I need to use the SIM in another charge point?
It is not intended for frequent changes and should only be updated when absolutely necessary. This can be done only through an authorized process. The IMEI lock can be reset or updated by sending an email to our Customer Care team at support@lastmilesolutions.com.

Can I get IMEI lock-free SIM cards for testing purposes?
IMEI lock-free SIMs are not intended for use in production facilities, as this helps prevent them from being mistakenly installed in charge points before deployment.
