We first announced the retirement of the Laadpaal app to our Partners in 2024 and introduced the Easy Charging Quality (ECQ) app as its successor. Since then, we have been winding Laadpaal down gradually. Usage has been very minimal in recent years, as most of you have moved your drivers to ECQ or to your own standalone app. 

Schedule 

  • From early August, users will see a message in Laadpaal stating that from Tuesday 1 September 2026 the app will no longer be accessible. Users can still close the message and use the app normally.
    • In the message, we will provide a link to download the ECQ app.  
    • If you have your own standalone app, we will redirect the user from ECQ to download your own app. 
  • From Tuesday 1 September, the message can no longer be closed, and Laadpaal is no longer accessible.

If you do not have the paid ECQ app or a standalone app 

Your drivers can still use the free version of the ECQ app to find charging stations, see live availability, and navigate to them. They will not be able to start a charging session in the app with their charging token.

Your Partner Success Manager is happy to walk you through what the full ECQ app offers for your drivers. On top of the basics, it gives your drivers a personal account, overview of their full charging history, and ability to start charging sessions with their tokens. We also recently rolled out a major update to the driver app, making it faster, more intuitive, and easier for your drivers to use every day.

Next steps  

  • If you’ve built your own app on our APIs, we will redirect your drivers from ECQ straight to your own app. If we need more information from you to make this work, we will reach out to you in the coming days. 
  • If your own website, onboarding flow, or support pages still link to the Laadpaal app, we kindly ask you to update those links before Tuesday 1 September 2026, so your drivers have a seamless transition.
