In case of home charging a company car (e.g., leased vehicles, service fleet cars etc), the energy costs for charging are preferably paid by the employer. As an alternative for the cumbersome use expense declaration forms and in accordance with sector processes, we have developed an automated scalable and tax compliant home charging reimbursement solution.

LMS facilitates home charging reimbursement when both the CPO and MSP are active on EVC-Net. Limitations apply when the CPO or e-MSP is external.

How is home charging reimbursement facilitated by the e-mobility sector?

1. The CPO defines the right charge tariff, which should reflect the energy tariff from employee’s energy contract.
2. The CPO identifies if a combination of charge card and charge station is home charging and should be reimbursed by the employer.
3. After a home charging session, the CPO sends a Charge Detail Record (CDR) to the MSP as usual, but labels the CDR for home charging reimbursement in accordance with market standards.
4. The CPO sends a separate monthly invoice to the MSP for all home charging sessions. This invoice should be out of scope of VAT to comply with tax laws.
5. The MSP sends a separate monthly invoice to the employer for home charging costs, again outside scope of VAT.
6. The CPO reimburses the employee.

Managing home charging reimbursement on EVC-Net

There are 4 possible situations for home charging reimbursement in relation to EVC-Net

1. CPO and MSP are the same provider on EVC-Net
2. The CPO and MSP are different corporate entities but both active on EVC-Net
3. The MSP is active on EVC-Net, the CPO is external (incoming CDRs) (currently in development)
4. The CPO is active on EVC-Net, the MSP is external (outgoing CDRs) (Currently not facilitated)

Limitation for option 2 only: The CPO can enable home charging with the corresponding tariff on a charge station, but cannot register which card is eligible for home charging. This means that a session on this station with any charge card from an MSP with ‘Fleet/Lease Company’ enabled by an LMS admin, will be labelled as home charging. This is however strictly limited and at the moment is only applicable for MultiTankcard (MTE) charge cards.
