Introducing New QR Codes: Enhancements, Benefits, and Transition Process

With the release of May 2.32, the platform now offers the new QR codes. This article aims to address any inquiries you may have regarding the availability of the new QR codes and the process of transitioning from the old codes to the new ones.

Why are new QR codes necessary?

The new QR codes bring several advantages compared to the old ones:

  • Adaptability: Changes in the front-end application, such as transitioning from an In-app White-label app to a Standalone White-label app, will not affect the functionality of previously issued QR codes. Configuration changes will be handled in the backend without impacting existing QR codes.
  • Flexibility: Different front-end applications, including White-label apps and Direct Payment web apps, can be easily configured.
  • Universality: End users can scan and open the link without needing to have the app installed on their device beforehand.
  • Interoperability: EV drivers from roaming partners can also scan the QR code and access their non-LMS applications.

When my stations receive the new QR Codes?

Starting from the May 2.23 release, all new stations added to the platform have been equipped with the new QR codes. Stations established before this release will still utilize the old QR codes. However, an update is scheduled to replace the existing QR codes for previously established stations on the out of business hours of the 21st of June.

It is important to acknowledge that this update will bring about a series of irreversible changes. Please consider the following modifications that will be implemented as a result:

  • All existing stations within EVC-net will be assigned new QR codes and URLs.
  • The old QR codes and URLs will no longer be visible or accessible via the platform.
  • Nevertheless, the old QR codes that have already been printed and affixed to your stations will remain functional and continue to operate seamlessly.

Therefore, CPOs have the freedom to replace the QR codes at their own pace. It should be noted that the old QR codes have their own drawbacks, including the inability to support the new Direct Payment web app.
